We at Portland DSA urge Portland City Council to establish a budget that takes care of all Portlanders, not just the rich. This city needs more public housing, support for people facing food insecurity, and full funding for community centers and parks. By creating a city that takes care of working people, we can create a place where every resident, wealthy or not, can thrive.
This year, the budget hearings have been broken up into four Community Listening Sessions:
Monday, March 29, 6:00pm-8:00pm – Housing and Houselessness
Monday, April 12, 6:00pm-8:00pm – Economic Stabilization and Recovery
Saturday, April 17, 10:00am-12:00pm – Community Safety
Wednesday, May 5, 6:00pm-8:00pm – Mayor’s Proposed Budget Hearing
How to get involved:
We believe that every Portlander’s voice should be heard in the budget process. If you would like to testify live, sign up here, or submit written testimony here.
If you want to urge your commissioners to take action otherwise, you can email them with our template here or send them a postcard!
